NEW DETAILS: Store Owner Murdered In Rocky Mount

Officials have released the autopsy results of the convenience store owner found dead inside his store.

Rocky Mount police say Abdul Karim Alwarrak died of gunshot wounds. He was found inside Karim's Food Mart on Raleigh Road just before 1 a.m. on May 19.

This is the second Rocky Mount convenience store owner who has been murdered inside his store in the past two months. In March, "Sammy" Soufan was murdered in his Old Wilson Road store. Police have not been able to make any arrests in either case.

Police tell WITN News they are investigating whether there is any connection with the two cases. The two stores are approximately two miles from each other on different sides of Rocky Mount.

Officers say they were called to the business after a report of a robbery.

The 47-year-old man's body has been sent to Pitt County Memorial Hospital for an autopsy.

In March, "Sammy" Soufan was murdered in his Old Wilson Road store. No one has been arrested in that homicide.
