State Reports Three Flu Deaths Including One In Eastern Carolina

North Carolina has confirmed its first deaths linked to the flu this season.

The state Health Department says the three victims were from Eastern Carolina, the Triad region, and the Charlotte area.

All three patients were middle aged adults who were at increased risk for complications due to underlying medical conditions.

The state says all three died during the past two weeks after testing positive for Influenza A.

Public health officials say so far flu cases have been relatively low this season, but are beginning to trend upward. Typically, flu season peaks in January and February.
