The 12 and under Southern Pitt baseball team advanced to the semifinals of the Cal Ripken World Series by winning a quarterfinal game against Raynham, Mass. late Wednesday night 5-0.
Robert Rapp almost single handedly took care of the New England Regional Champions. Rapp got the start on the mound and threw three hitless innings striking out eight batters and issuing only two walks to get the victory.
Southern Pitt led 2-0 in the top of the third inning when Rapp belted a three-run home run to cap off a five run inning.
Southern Pitt advances to the single elimination semifinal game where they will play host team and unbeaten Visalia, California. The game is scheduled to get underway at 10:30pm eastern time following the first semifinal game.
