I am sure all the libs...poor kid, no daddy, no upbringing..again, this is no excuse for people like this kid and the ones we see walking all over town all day and night with NOTHING better to do except to put the taxpayers of this community at risk everywhere everyday ALL THE TIME! I say we need to start arming ourselves and next time this happens and there will be a next time we can take care of yall ourselves!

Some of you people are pure and complete idiots. You have no idea what is going on in someones life until you have walked in their shoes. Be careful how you bad mouth someone without facts or it may come back to bite you. Sure you are very quick to your opinion when it's about someone else but do you ever stop to think about anyone's family before you bash them for something you know nothing about except for what came over the "grapevine". I guess it doesn't matter that "little joe" down the road heard kids at school talking about his family and cried. It doesn't matter that a mom heard you talking about her child and was broken hearted. It doesn't matter that a little girl or little boy was picked on at school because other kids heard their moms/dads talking over dinner and made fun of them. You people make me sick.

I stopped at the Bojangles in Snow Hill about 90 mins. after this crime was committed and while the SHPD and GCSD were investigating, the drive thru was up and running. One would think that Tands would care enough for their employees to shut the store down and give them time to recover from the incident. What the young man did was wrong, but Bojangles apparent lack of concern for the employees was criminal as well. My family and I will not be going back to Bojangles.

I know that this crime was harsh, but has anyone thought of the fact that this child was on medication? He has been off his meds for a while(his family thought that he was taking them) and that is how this whole incident was sparked. Some people that commit crimes are not aware of what they are doing. Thank God no one was injured, but please give this young man a chance to get the help that he needs.

You have got to be kidding! Sounds like you were the one not taking care of him. No piety party here. He is a grown man. He did the crime. He knew what he was doing. That's what wrong with these young people today. They have no one in the family as a role model just people with excuses excuses excuses and more excuses. Put him in jail where he belongs so at least the taxpayers (the people who actually work) can feed and clothe him and maybe teach him right from wrong

This isn't his first offense...first of all. He was arrested for the attempt of robbery at a Greenville, NC ATM outside of Food Lion at Stanton Square as well... Mentally, even if your disorder "somehow" sparked the situation the person thought about the crime before they committed it, therefore, they should be guilty. People like him make me wonder if anywhere is safe. I'm pretty sure he was aware of what he was's an impulse of "wanting" to do it. I hope your right that he does get the help he needs, but I believe he needs to also serve time for the crimes he has committed. I'm sick of people letting the criminals go.

Everything I saw had GC Sheriff office assisting...Snow Hill has their own police now. And, people shouldn't complain about the quality of law enforcement who never worked in it...for 23K per year!

Actually it was the GCSD that responded to the call because SHPD was not on duty. It took the SHPD Chief over an hour to arrive on scene and GCSD had already located the suspect vehicle at that time. Sheriff Smith has done an outstanding job and is essentionally on call all the time. For those so critical of our Sheriff, look up his salary; it is not that high and many in the county who work far less hours make far more money!

well, first of all the sheriff got about a $10,000 raise less than a year ago. his officers didnt get anything. if you recall, the kinston free press did an article on local salaries and shortly thereafter, he got "his" raise, but not a dime for his deputies. now to me, thats leadership! look it up!

They rob taxpayers every month. Isn't that enough?? That big federal refund that your baby mama got didn't cover the cost of the twenty-foes?
