Snow Forces Suspension Of Four Ferry Routes

The North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Ferry Division has temporarily suspended operations at its Hatteras-Ocracoke, Ocracoke Cedar Island, Ocracoke-Swan Quarter and Cherry Branch-Minnesott Beach routes due to snow.

Heavy snow is causing poor visibility and icing on ferry decks making it hazardous to cross. The suspensions could last through tomorrow.

Operations will return to normal once the visibility and the deck icing situation improves to cross safely.

For further information, call Hatteras at 252-986-2353, Ocracoke at 252-928-5311 or Cherry Branch at 252-447-1055. Travelers who have reservations for any of the Pamlico Sound runs that have been cancelled, should call 1-800-293-3779 and press 2 to speak to a reservation specialist.
