The old cliche` "where there is smoke, there is fire," is not true in Jacksonville Tuesday. Crews in Jacksonville will search for sewer leaks using smoke.
The tests will be run in the Jacksonville Commons Drive North area Tuesday, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Crews will inject non-toxic smoke into the sewer lines, according to a press release from the city. It will be normal for people in that area to see smoke coming from vent stacks, manholes or sewer openings. Seeing smoke in your home, however, is not normal. Officials urge homeowners who experience that to call a plumber.
People with questions should call the City of Jacksonville Engineering Department at (910) 938-5249.
