Smartphone App Scams

Scam artists and hackers are always trying to get your personal information to pad their pockets and make your life difficult. Computerweekly.com posted what they believe will be the biggest online scams of 2011, based on the security firm, Knowthenet.org.uk.

Smartphones are the new frontier of scam artist targets. With more people owning the gadgets and storing increasingly sensitive information on them, scammers are trying to get into your phone via applications. The computer experts say watch out for malicious spyware disguised in a game or an app. If you download one of these apps, the malware can steal data such as passwords and financial details.

You can protect yourself by checking the application, developer and reviewer comments before you download any app on your phone.
