Sleepy Driver Causes Lenoir County Wreck

A five car pile-up in Lenoir County could be the result of one very drowsy driver.

We're gathering details about a wreck that occurred on Highway 258 near Stroud's Corner Road, south of Kinston.

The Kinston Free Press reports that the wreck happened around 2:15 p.m. Monday afternoon after a man allegedly fell asleep at the wheel and veered into oncoming traffic. Five cars crashed in all and forced that stretch of Highway 258 to be closed down for two hours.

No one was injured seriously, and charges are pending.

Waiting to hear why the driver fell asleep...due to medication? or driving all night? or staying up all night and driving, or what?
