A search is on for a Duplin County woman who walked away from a group home last night.
Sheriff Blake Wallace says Tonya Fox is bi-polar and has a mental capacity of an 18-year-old. The 28-year-old woman was last seen leaving the group home in Calypso en route to a nearby convenience store. Wallace says the woman never made it to that store.
The sheriff says they got a call Wednesday morning that the woman was spotted near the fairgrounds in Goldsboro. He says they don't suspect foul play, but are concerned because of her medical condition.
A ground search is underway in northern Duplin County and a Highway Patrol helicopter is en route to assist.
Fox is a black woman, 5'2" tall, weighs 400 pounds and has black shoulder length hair. She was last seen wearing Khaki pants, a multi-colored shirt, black sneakers and a black coat.
Anyone who has seen Tonya Fox should call the Duplin County Sheriff's Office at 910-296-2150.
