Officials say the body of the man that jumped from a bridge in order to elude police was found Friday in the Roanoke River six weeks after he was last seen alive.
Bertie County Sheriff's Deputies say a fisherman spotted a body floating in the Roanoke River Friday afternoon and alerted police. The body was later identified as Roland Bell.
Deputies say Bell's body was discovered near the Hamilton boat landing about 7.5 miles from the bridge where he jumped.
Bell led lawmen on a chase on a stolen motorcycle back on April 28th. He crashed on a bridge on the Martin-Bertie County line almost 40 miles later and then jumped into the Roanoke River.
The last time Bell was seen alive authorities say he, along with his brother Brandon Bell and Brandon Montayne, robbed Motorcycle Dreamz in Pitt County.
