An Edgecombe County fisherman was found dead after his family reported him missing.
In a release, Sheriff James Knight says Roger Joyner had left Robersonville at 7:00 a.m. Monday with his truck and boat, but hadn't returned by 6:00 p.m. Joyner was fishing at the wildlife pond off Shiloh Farm Road outside of Princeville. A family member had spoken with him at 11:00 AM.
Deputies went to the pond and found the 51-year-old Joyner's truck in the parking lot. Boats from the Edgecombe County Rescue Squad and the NC Wildlife responded to search the water. Joyner's body was located.
There is no foul play suspected and it appears to be an accidental drowning, according to Sheriff Knight.
