Sheriff: Missing Fisherman From Martin County Drowned In Pond

An Edgecombe County fisherman was found dead after his family reported him missing.

In a release, Sheriff James Knight says Roger Joyner had left Robersonville at 7:00 a.m. Monday with his truck and boat, but hadn't returned by 6:00 p.m. Joyner was fishing at the wildlife pond off Shiloh Farm Road outside of Princeville. A family member had spoken with him at 11:00 AM.

Deputies went to the pond and found the 51-year-old Joyner's truck in the parking lot. Boats from the Edgecombe County Rescue Squad and the NC Wildlife responded to search the water. Joyner's body was located.

There is no foul play suspected and it appears to be an accidental drowning, according to Sheriff Knight.

You have no right to speak that way about someone you dont even know. Roger was my father. He was a hard worker, a wonderful father, a great husband, and he loved my mother very much. I hope when you die scum bag people say the same ignorant things as you.

Whether this man had ever commited a crime or not isn't relevant to this tragedy. What is relevant is sympathy for his family in their time of loss. A message to "court", you should hope that you never have to face a jury of YOUR peers, if they are as judgemental as you, YOU are already guilty!

What right do you have to judge someone? This man had been sick before and after any charges. God bless your ignorant mind.

I worked with this man for years & he had a heart. No matter what "charges" are against him, we are not to judge. My prayers are with his family right now & I pray for peace and understanding. I also ask for forgiveness on behalf of idiots who post such rude comments .. May God have mercy on your soul!

His death had nothing to do with his charges--regardless he was a son, father, husband and family. God Bless your ignorance and hopefully if you have any children or family they dont dissapoint your JUDGEMENTAL values!
