Several Ferry Runs Cancelled Monday

Due to a problem with one of its vessels, the NCDOT Ferry Division has cancelled several runs at the Cedar Island-Ocracoke route.

The following runs will not take place on Monday, June 13:

The 7 a.m., 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. departures from Ocracoke;

The 10 a.m., 3:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. departures from Cedar Island.

If you have a reservation for any of these ferry runs, call 800-293-3779 and Press 2 to speak to a reservation specialist to obtain a refund or re-schedule. The call center is open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

Normal operations will resume once the vessel is repaired.

      These boats run nearly around the clock and don't have a lot of time for major overhauls. They try in the off season, but something will always break on an older vessel. The state doesn't have the money for new boats - so being out of service for a day really isn't that big of an issue.
