In Duplin County, the private golf community River Landing in Wallace invited about 100 Marines from Camp Lejeune for Thanksgiving. Cam McLemore with River Landing says each Marine spends the day golfing, fishing, kayaking or using the fitness center or pool. Others relax and play games, watch TV, throw a football around the yard or help cook dinner. Marines have a home cooked Thanksgiving dinner with families throughout the community. The event was started three years ago with just 12 Marines by River Landing resident and Army veteran Robert Steen.
