Seven ECU Football Games Included Among Early 2011 TV Schedule

GREENVILLE, N.C. - Seven East Carolina football games, four at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium and three on the road, are scheduled for live television coverage in 2011 according to Conference USA's release of initial broadcast selections Tuesday.

FOX Sports Networks, a new C-USA television partner, will air the Pirates' home opener against Virginia Tech on Sept. 10 - the network's first visit to Greenville for a contest since 2002 - and a pivotal league intra-divisional matchup against UCF on Nov. 19.

ECU will open the month of October with consecutive appearances on the CBS Sports Network when it hosts North Carolina on Oct. 1 and travels to C-USA rival Houston on Oct. 8. CBSSN will also carry the Pirates' final non-conference game of the season at Navy on Oct. 22.

Kickoff times have been established for all three of the CBSSN contests, including an 8 p.m. start time for East Carolina's battle against the Tar Heels. The Pirates will follow with 7 p.m. (ET) and 3:30 p.m. road kicks against the Cougars and Midshipmen, respectively.

In addition, league officials announced Comcast Sports South (CSS) will broadcast East Carolina's clash against Southern Miss from Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium on Nov. 5 and Time Warner-El Paso will air the action from the Sun Bowl when the Pirates visit UTEP a week later.

ECU's local television package, which is coordinated by IMG College, and possible additional selections by FSN, CBSSN or other networks will be announced at a later date.

I like seeing this television schedule mainly for the road games, but may possibly go up to Annapolis Maryland for the ECU-Navy game. It's going to be tough as we'll start out with 2 national championship contenders (Gamecocks & Hokies) to start the season. Cheers to another C-USA Championship, a win over UNC, and a Top 25 finish at the end of the season!

Realistically I think we can go at least 7-5 if we can play just a little defense. If the defense is as bad as last year then you may be right.
