Seizure May Have Caused Pickup Truck Accident

A seizure may have caused an accident this morning in Onslow County.

State troopers say Lewis Sammons told witnesses he started having seizures while driving down Belgrade-Swansboro Road around 7:20 a.m.

His pickup truck went in between several mailboxes, hit a ditch and then traveled another 600 feet. Trooper D.C. Martin says the pickup then struck a tree, causing the vehicle to spin backwards.

The 30-year-old Sammons was airlifted to an area hospital. Trooper Martin says speed was likely a factor and that charges will probably be filed because of the accident.

Im sorry, I don't feel that charges shouldn't be brought against him as seizures are uncontrollable. Unless you have experienced one or seen a person have one, they have no control whatsoever. Hope that he didnt suffer any serious injuries from the accident.

I don't see how they can say or not say that the seizures were also a factor is the speed. He had no control, and his feet also are part of the seizure.

Charges WILL be filed? Seems unlikely to me!

That is what I was thinking...how can you charge him with anything if he was unable to comtrol himself because of a seizure? I hope he is not charged if the medical condition did in fact cause the accident. I am so glad that he is ok.
