Another coach and athletic director at one Pitt County school has been suspended, the second one at the school this year.
Pitt County Schools spokeswoman Heather Mayo confirms that Grifton School basketball coach and athletic director Brian Perry is on paid suspension, starting today.
Perry, who is also a 7th grade teacher at the school, has been athletic director since March. He replaced Haywood Dillahunt who was suspended from those duties earlier this year. Dillahunt was also the school's softball coach and his suspension brought about protests from both parents and students.
Mayo says the investigation into Dillahunt is complete, but she can't go into specifics. Dillahunt is now a teacher at E.B. Aycock Middle School.
There's no word from the school district on why Perry was suspended due to personnel laws. Mayo says he's been with Pitt County since 2002, starting with D.H. Conley, then Farmville and in 2009, Grifton school as a teacher.
