There are new details about the murder of a mother from the east as search warrants in the case were released to media Tuesday.
The warrants reveal investigators collected "evidence of murder" in the apartment of the victim's ex-boyfriend and father of her children, Grant Hayes.
Laura Ackerson, 27-years-old of Kinston, was reported missing July 18th and her dismembered body was discovered in Texas July 24th.
Grant Hayes and his wife Amanda are charged with Ackerson's murder.
At least one of the search warrants was for the Hayes's Raleigh apartment. Ackerson was last seen visiting her children there July 13th -- five days before a coworker reported her missing.
Investigators took carpet samples, plumbing and debris from drains and say they believe Ackerson was killed and dismembered at the apartment before being taken to Texas and dumped in a creek near property owned by Amanda's sister.
Police also say the Hayes's owned a saw. Investigators have said a saw may have been used to dismember Ackerson's body.
Ackerson's two boys are in the custody of Hayes's parents, but her father is trying to gain custody.
