Man Charged With Murder Will Make Court Appearance

One of three men accused in the murder of an elderly man will make a court appearance Monday.

Jason Walters is scheduled to make a court appearance at the jail in the murder of 79-year-old Hue Sutton in October 2010.

Walters also faces breaking and entering charges in the crime.

Christopher Powell and Michael Bray are also charged in Sutton's murder. Tasha Price faces a charge of accessory after the fact.

There have been two more arrests in connection with the murder of an elderly Pitt County man.

Sheriff Mac Manning says Christopher Powell of Mount Olive has been charged with murder. The 17-year-old turned himself in to authorities in Hendry County, Florida Thursday morning. The sheriff says additional charges are pending.

Also arrested in the case is Tasha Price of Goldsboro. The 34-year-old woman is charged with accessory after the fact to murder. Manning says she is accused of buying a bus ticket for Powell so he could flee to Florida.

Hue Sutton's body was found Tuesday evening near his home on Leary Mills Road. Michael Bray has already been charged with the murder, while Jason Walter was charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

Two men have been charged in connection with the murder of a missing Pitt County man.

Records show that Michael Bray has been charged with the murder of Hue Sutton, while Jason Walters has been charged with breaking and entering and accessory after the fact of murder.

The 21-year-old Bray is being held on a $1,000,000 bond while Walters' bond was set at $225,000.

Walters was one of two men wanted late last month after a manhunt near Sutton's Leary Mills Road home. Pitt County deputies said Walters and another man were wanted for several break-ins in that area and had fled into some nearby woods.

Deputies say Sutton’s remains were found in a wooded area behind his home late Tuesday evening. They say It appears that he was shot.

Walters was arrested in Goldsboro, while Bray was taken into custody in Onslow County. Deputies say Sutton's missing pickup truck was found submerged in water in Wayne County.

The 79-year-old man was last heard from Saturday and he failed to show up at a friend's cookout the next day.

Tuesday lawmen searched around his home on Leary Mills Road, using cadaver dogs and a Highway Patrol helicopter.

The Department of Correction website shows Bray has a criminal record dating back to 2006 for breaking and entering and possession of drugs. He was charged in 2007 for assault in Beaufort County.

The 25-year-old Walters has a long criminal history dating back to 2002 for breaking and entering, forgery, larceny, possession of gun by a felon.

There's a search underway in Pitt County for a missing elderly man.

Deputies are at the home on Leary Mills Road, near the intersection of Highway 102. At least 9 sheriff vehicles are at the scene, and a Highway Patrol helicopter has been used as well.

Deputies tell us they are searching nearby woods for Hue Sutton, who was last heard from on Saturday. The 79-year-old man was supposed to attend a friend's cookout on Sunday but never showed up.

Chief Deputy James Tripp says at this time they do not believe foul play is involved in Sutton's disappearance. Sutton maybe driving a 2008 black Chevy extended cab pickup truck. There is a small white cross on the tailgate and it bears NC registration XTL-8048.

It's the same area where late last month two people were the subject of a manhunt after several homes were broken into, but Tripp says the two cases are not connected.
