A Greenville salon held a special fundraiser Monday for a young tornado victim from Camp Lejeune.
Company B Salon and Relaxation Center donated 100 percent of its proceeds from 10:00 until 3:00 to Evan Salerno and his family. The Salernos were in their home at Camp Lejeune during the tornadoes on April 16. Evan, who is 23 months-old, has been in Pitt County Memorial Hospital ever since, suffering from several broken bones and a collapsed lung.
Salon owner Bobby Knowles says the Ronald McDonald House contacted him about doing Evan's mom's hair - and after hearing her family's story, he says he felt compelled to help.
Knowles says the salon raised a little over $2,000 during the fundraiser.
Evan is expected to leave the hospital Tuesday, and will be home for his second birthday on Wednesday.
