SUV & Farm Tractor Collide In Wayne County

A head on collision between an SUV and a farm tractor sent one person to the hospital Wednesday afternoon.

The Highway Patrol says it happened on Highway 70 West near Ebenezer-Church road in Wayne County.

Troopers say the driver of the SUV was trapped inside and an East Care helicopter was called to the scene.

There's no word on the extent of the injuries.

We'll update the story as we get new information.

We need our farmers, but, when these big farm eqpt on on the highway, they can cause problems.. the driver of the farm eqpt needs to pull off and let the traffic go by, so many times I see problems when the epqt is going so slow and people try to pass and either have a wreck or close call. the eqpt needs to have more flashing lights and have only certain hours to be on the highway, they only go about 20 mph..hope the suv driver is ok. most of these accidents happen on 2 lane roads. mabye new laws need to be put in effect. good luck and all be safe

Fiscal evidently you don't have any sense at all. Eastcare is a very vital commodity to fire and ems. I hope you never need them talking like that!!

i notice nearly every ACCIDENT victim is transported by east care helicopter. NO DOUBT THAT IS AN ECONOMIC REVERSE ORDER DECISION,MORE PROFIT. WHY NOT SELL ALL THE RESCUE SQUADS AND AMBULANCES?

if someone is in a rural area they are an hour or more from the hospital--helicopters are the way to go if someone needs medical assistance. ambulances are more for in-town emergencies. the way north carolina is set up, is that there are cities with large rural areas between them. not towns next to towns like they have in other places.
