NEW INFO: SUV Vs. 18-Wheeler Accident

State troopers have charged the driver of an 18-wheeler after his big rig struck a SUV Monday morning in Craven County.

It happened on West Kornegay Street in Dover around 8:40 a.m.

Troopers say Joshua Dean was driving at Wise Recycling 18-wheeler on Old Highway 70 when he did not stop at a stop sign. Troopers say the 18-wheeler hit a Dodge SUV.

Wanda Gale Williams was injured and transported to a local hospital where troopers say she will recover from a broken foot.

Dean is charged with failure to stop at a stop sign.

That looks like my Jeep Commander. We had a Envoy but t-boned a guy on Western in Jacksonville when he crossed 3 lanes of traffic out of a gas station so he could turn left (the gas station was on the right.) He was driving a 2010 Chevy truck. We flipped him on his side and totalled our front end. Luckily I had only had a sprained wrist and my family walked away with bruises and some sore muscles. The other guy was fine. But had we been driving something smaller, no telling what the outcome would have been. I'd prefer something safe, like my Jeep, compared to something small where I might not walk away.

Now what does this story have to do with the president? People tend to want to blame President Obama for everything. HE WAS NOT DRIVING EITHER VEHICLE! If the sun isn't shining....blame the president, if the wind is blowing...blame the president, if your underewear is too tight or too loose...blame the president. Get a life!

To Boats: I have a Toyota Prius and it get 53 MPG. Bet you wouldn't laugh if you were driving it, and it is much bigger and safer than a golf cart!!!

Nancy, when that tractor trailer hits you head on... you'll forget about that 53 mpg, it won't matter quite as much then. All the green lovers think they are doing the world good by buying the Prius, but it still takes mining, industry, water, electricity, chemicals for the batteries, the steel, the tires, ect. You are saving a little gas, but the batteries are way more harmful with age than the gas you're saving.

It does not matter WHAT kind of vehicle you're driving if a tractor trailer hits you head on. You are more than likely toast. Once again, has nothing to do with whether you're a "green" person or not. Get a life and stop bringing politics into EVERYTHING. An accident is what it is.

Boats--- if it was a GM(government motors)vehicle then it was an obamacar.

several companies already make hybrid SUVs that get 50 MPG or more (120 MPG, even-- It's a myth that hybrid and fuel efficient must equal dinky.

Wonder how the driver would have fared had he been driving one of the proposed 50MPG Obamacars? You know the ones I'm talking about, about the size and weight of a good golf cart.
