SMASH & GRAB: Man Hitting Sears Jewelry Counters After Hours

Police in two cities here in the east are looking for a man who has taken thousands of dollars worth of gold jewelry from Sears. In both cases the burglar smashed doors to get inside.

In the Greenville robbery, police say $35,000 in jewelry was taken early Sunday morning. Police responded to an alarm call around 4:15 a.m. and found the glass in the doors on the north side of the building shattered. Inside they discovered the jewelry case had been broken into.

The case at the Rocky Mount Sears happened on February 12th.

In both cases a white man wearing a hat is seen on surveillance cameras. Police have released photos with hopes that someone will recognized the burglar.

I wonder if he will put his loot in little bags and send to California for his money?

I know how you can tell it was a white guy? He did it after hours, store was empty, no witnesses to identify him, did not pistol whip any old people, did not shoot anybody and smile at cameras, did not fire a gun just to shoot it, and didn't leave any dead, small children who were just innocent bystanders.

Wow! Those photos are so clear we can easily see who the individual is.

I worked in a Sears in Fayetteville (at the Mall) a few years ago, and our Jewelry department always cleared out the cases at closing time, and put the jewelry in a safe. I guess the Sears in Greenville and Rocky Mount are too lazy to clean out their display cases...

Maybe sears needs to put the roll up doors over the glass doors or put a gate over these doors. The problem is Sears makes it so easy by putting the jewlrey by the door .Makes for an easy heist and fast get away bet he was in and out within 5 minutes.

I doubt he was making the heist for his girlfriend. The market value on gold is up there whether it's from Sear's or Tiffany's.

By the time the alarm call reaches the monitoring station and then the local police get the call and drive over the robber is long gone.
