SHERIFF: Man Shot During Home Invasion In Wayne County

A man is recovering at the hospital after investigators say that he was shot during a home invasion.

Deputies with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office say they responded to a home on the 4700 block of U.S. Highway 70 East for a burglary and shots fired call.

Officials say they found 65-year-old Johnny Bryant shot in the abdomen.

Bryant was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital and then later to Vidant Medical Center where officials say he is listed in stable condition.
Officials say that 3 men forced their way into the home and that robbery appears to be the motive.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Capt. Richard Lewis at 919-705-6542, Sgt. Ron Baker at 919-705-1759 or Crimestoppers at 919-735-2255.
