Rice K's 18 ECU Batters In 2-1 Win

The ECU baseball team dropped the first game of a three game Conference USA series to Rice 2-1 striking out 18 times.

ECU pitcher Seth Maness struck out eight batters in 6.2 innings pitched allowing two runs (both earned) on 10 hits (all singles) with two walks (both intentional).

ECU's bullpen tossed 2.1 innings of scoreless relief allowing one hit with four punch outs.

Washington native Trent Whitehead accounted for two of ECU's four hits and scored their lone run of the night

ECU and Rice will play game two of the series Saturday at 3pm in Greenville.
