Residents Still Waiting For New Election Date

Still no firm date for voters in Washington County to cast another vote for sheriff.

The State Board of Elections ordered a new sheriff's election after claims that November's close race was mired in scandal.

The state board's executive director will decide when the vote will be, but that won't happen until the state board can meet with the county board of elections.

In November's election sheriff James Ross, a Democrat, won by just four votes over Republican Greg Hassell.

My Dearest Dee, Yes, you are absolutely correct! Ross does have many tricks, but they are well documented in the transcripts of all the hearings which are public record. Do ya think that is maybe why he conceded to a new election? AND, with the State Board of Elections, the Republican Party, and the Democrat party down here monitoring the election and the county Board of Elections like flies on stinky, don’t ya think he WOULD BE an absolute idiot to try something? So, continue with your verbose bravado all you want; this is America and you do have freedom of speech, but you are intimidating no one!!!!

if hassell thinks he can gets this position and continue his tricks, he needs to stay where he is. ross has enough tricks of his own.

I beleive that the SBI needs to get involved with this stuff. They need to investigate Greg Hassell's activities along the way of the elections from past to present. Everybody is steady talking about Ross and what he is not doing! What about Greg Hassell and what he has been doing(corruption). He has always gotten investigation on everybody else, it is time for the investigation to be done on him! He has more skeletons than the grave yard! It is time for him to face justice, just as the people that he claims was corrupted.

i agree KS......kinda hard for the police or sheriffs to do their jobs when u always see the officers down dirts paths, backroads or behind buildings with other unknown vehicles for countless amounts of time....but maybe atleast they are living up the the "proctection and servicing" i mean "protect and serve" rule

Go ahead and have 10 more elections. Who cares? NOBODY! People just sit around and whine. Only a few ever show up to vote. This county deserves the sad excuse for law enforcement when they won't even bother to let their voices know, where it counts ~ at the polls, not on a website
