Lawmen from several counties helped in a drug bust that turned up a block of cocaine valued at more than $18,000. Now a suspect is behind bars on a $1.5 million bond on cocaine trafficking charges.
Five law enforcement agencies, ALE, SBI, Perquimans and Chowan County Sheriff's Offices and Plymouth Police arrested 29-year-old Walter Norman of Hertford. In addition to the cocaine, they also seized 4 firearms.
Norman is charged with trafficking cocaine and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Norman has been in prison four times on prior drug and firearm convictions and breaking and entering. Perquimans county sheriff Eric Tilley said his office had received numerous complaints about alleged drug activity at Norman's home.
