Congressman Jones Discussing Debt Ceiling In Jacksonville

U.S. Rep. Walter Jones is visiting Jacksonville to discuss several issues, including his "no" vote on raising the debt ceiling.

The Republican congressman is speaking Tuesday morning at a forum at City Hall. The event is sponsored by a committee of the Jacksonville-Onslow Chamber of Commerce.

Janet Bowen of the chamber says the moderator will take written questions from the audience and that Jones will answer as many as possible in the hour-long forum. Jones says he will discuss his vote on the debt ceiling and that he also hopes to explain his opposition to trade agreements.

Last week, Congress approved a bill that raised the U.S. debt ceiling and trimmed spending.

Mr. Jones gets a little over three thousand dollars per month while in washington just for his food. if he does not spend the 3000 he can put it in his pocket tax free. Great deal for millionairs in congress.

Hey, the guy has that denial thing going on. The vote for Obama was a vote against Bush in 08. The next vote will be against Obama in 2012 for doing an even worse job than Bush did in his last term, with both houses controlled by democrats. Some people have learned from this, some sit their along idealogue, Barlow is idealogue period.

To Barlow, who is obviously in the ozone, get a grip. Maybe you are one of the 52% who pay ZERO Fed taxes. We need to make sure you pay your fair share of taxes instead of being a free loader and putting this country into bankruptcy.

Congratulations to the Democrats for sending this country into bankruptcy! What idiots you are to think that you can plan politics with entitlements and not reduce the size of that huge pot hole. Tax and spend, tax and spend. That's the motto of Democrats, even if it drives this country into the ground.

Here is what the American people think about representatives like Jones, Just 33 percent of Americans approve of the Republican Party, while 59 percent disapprove in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Tuesday. At the same time, Democrats’ numbers have improved slightly, with approval and disapproval each at 47 percent

Maybe he could explain why he wasn't concerned about our debt when there was a Republican president borrowing money for two wars. The question and answer would go something like this. Questioner: Congressman Jones, could you tell us why this wasn't a concern for Republicans when George Bush was in office?". Answer from Jones; "NO!". See, cuz they are so good a the NO thing.

You can't expect to keep raising the debt limit and expect any of the nations problems to be resolved. Look back at the previous debt increases during Nancy Pelosi and Obama's reign. The debt limit has increased by over $8 trillion dollars. Their needs to be a debt limit cap and a balanced budget initiated. You can't keep borrowing money and expect to be able to pay it back when the country is jobless. It's called bankruptcy!!

during the cut debate was the benefits of congress ever addressed. These people are paid like gods. they have benefits beyond belief. If they only serve one term they get full benefits for life. this is legal extorsion.
