Red Flags Up For Outer Banks Beaches

Reg flag warnings are out for at least two beaches on the Outer Banks Friday because of dangerous rip currents.

Beaches in Nags Head and Kill Devil Hills have put up red flags, telling the general public not to swim in the ocean.

Authorities say it's because of dangerous surf and rip current conditions that pose a danger to all swimmers.

There's no word yet on how long the reg flag warning will remain.

Kill Devil Hills had reg flags up Thursday as well. Fire Chief Doug Penland says there have been a number of rescues on the beach.
