"Ralph The Pelican" Returns To U.S. After Extended Canadian Visit

A brown pelican is back in the United States after spending six months in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Ralph the pelican, named after the adult entertainment center that she was found on, arrived at the Outerbanks Wildlife Shelter in Newport this morning.

It took the Hope For Wildlife Society three full days to drive Ralph to her new home, where she will stay until she's ready to be released back into the wild.

Ralph--who turned out to be a female pelican--ended up in Canada, thanks to Hurricane Earl.

Officials at Outerbanks Wildlife estimate Ralph is two years old and say she's in good health. They hope to put her with the six other pelicans at the shelter by the weekend.
