A strong cold front will push through eastern North Carolina by early Thursday causing showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could be severe, mainly after 10 pm. Rain will continue into Thursday morning before finally tapering off during the afternoon. Much colder air will follow the front with falling temperatures during the day. Highs will be near 60° early in the day and drop through the 50s in the late morning and afternoon. Clearing skies will develop by late Thursday with lows by Friday morning near the freezing mark. Lots of sunshine will return for the end of the week.
