Proposed Chicken Plant Continues To Draw Protesters

Dozens of protesters came out to oppose the possible opening of a chicken plant in the east.

Landowners in Nash County and opposition groups argue that a Sanderson Farms processing plant will be damaging to the environment.

Sanderson has committed to make a 95-million dollar investment that would create 1,100jobs.

Nash County's manager said an identical plant recently went up in Kinston and passed all state regulations.

County leaders expect to hear a final decision about whether the company plans to build the plant in Nash County before the end of the year.
