A local high school principal has been suspended as an investigation into testing procedures continues.
Edgecombe County Schools says Southwest Edgecombe High School Principal John Westberg has been placed on suspension with pay while a probe into inappropriate testing procedures is going on.
One Southwest Edgecombe teacher has resigned and a testing coordinator was suspended for ten days without pay as a result of the investigation, according to a news release.
Officials have not revealed what the specific allegations of wrongdoing are.
Westberg has been principal there since July 2009. He began his career in education in 1979 as a physical education teacher and coach.
SouthWest Edgecombe High School is located near Pinetops and serves approximately 950 students in grades 9-12.
