Power Back On In Hyde County

A planned power outage overnight in Hyde County lasted three hours longer than expected.

Tideland EMC said a power outage would last from 11:59 p.m. Wednesday until 3 a.m. Thursday. However, the power was not restored until 6 a.m., according to customers of the power company.

The electric company said in a press release that 2,100 people were affected by the planned outage. Crews shut down the Mattamuskeet substation to work on the electric cooperative's new Ponzer substation.

Tideland said that the power would be off for three (3) hours, but that turned into six (6) hours plus.

Yeah, tideland sucks. They're in Pamlico County too and the power would go out just about every time somebody sneezed or passed gas!

Well, that's Hyde County for you. That backwoods place is worse than Pamlico County! Now that's bad!
