Pot Suspect Found Hiding Under Sheet In Belhaven House

Beaufort County Deputies say a suspect accused of having marijuana near a local Boys and Girls Club was found in a house hiding under a bed sheet.

Deputies say 33-year-old Nathaniel Toppins is charged with two counts of possessing a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a daycare or playground.

Toppins was arrested after a controlled purchase was made by a deputy.

Toppins then ran into a residence on Lee Street in Belhaven. Deputies entered the residence and arrested Toppins after finding him hiding under a bed sheet.

Toppins was placed in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a 10,000 bond.
