In Pitt County, fewer people are claiming unemployment benefits, and East Carolina University says another good economic sign is more employers taking part in its job fair this year.
The ECU Career Center is holding a job fair Tuesday and says more than 160 employers will participate- 2 dozen more than last year.
As the U.S. Department of Labor reports a four year low in unemployment benefits, the Pitt County Employment Security Commission says there are 400 fewer people receiving unemployment benefits, than this time four years ago .
"We've seen an actual increase in the number of job openings being listed with us so that's a good sign, but it's not massive numbers, but it's probably more, so one or two position at a time, so it is a gradual increase."said Danny Alston with the Pitt County Employment Security Commission.
ECU's job fair is Tuesday February 21st at the Greenville Convention Center from 10am to 2pm and is open to students and graduates.
