What Happened To Aimee Pitt?

Around 50 friends, family, and community members searched for 22-year-old Amie Pitt on Saturday, who has been missing for more than two weeks.

Pitt's friend Angie Batts says, "It's not like her not to stay in touch with somebody, so my initial thought was something is wrong."

Marci Butler says, "She's just missing and this is not our community. Our community is a close place and this just doesn't happen here at all."

So on Saturday they took action. They searched more than 30 acres in the Tarboro area, near where Pitt was last seen.

According to her friends Pitt was last seen by her boyfriend at their home on Newsome Street.

They did not come up with anything during the search. But tomorrow they are planning another search. And friends say they will not give up.

Previous Story:

Tarboro Police say it's been two weeks since a young woman was reported missing, and no one has come forward with information about where she might be.

Aimee Pitt is a 22 year old from Tarboro who was reported missing on December 30. Her father, an attorney in Pinetops, filed the report with the police department.

Detectives say Aimee lives with her boyfriend on Newsome St. in Tarboro.

Sgt. Bruce Edwards says it's unusual for Aimee to have disappeared without speaking to her loved ones for two weeks. They are hoping she is perhaps staying with a friend, but they are exploring other avenues that something could have happened to her.

Flyers are being distributed around Edgecombe County.

Tarboro police say the person found Thursday in Martin County in a burned out car is not Pitt. While that person has not been positively identified, police say they've determined the fire in the car in Martin County happened well before Pitt was last seen.

Anyone with information about where Aimee Pitt is can call the Tarboro Police Department at (252) 641-4247.

To friend get your head out of the sand even if the boyfriend didn't harm her he knew more than he is telling.you should be ashamed of yourself talking about what he and his family hasbeen through with no mention of what this young girl went through or her family. he can get up tomorrow eat his favorte food go back to partying or change his life&his mother can hug him tomorrow but this young girl will never have those rights nor will her mother ever be able to hug her child again.the fact remains he nneeds to tell all that he knows instead of hiding in his parents home.like a coward. The truth will set you free.

Nevermind the police! If Aimee Pitt was my friend or family member the house would have been the first place I would have gone to check for her. I would have turned the place upside down. I also have a concern about that friend of hers who said on the news, before Aimee was found, that Aimee WAS a great person and she also said Aimee didn't deserve this. Deserve what and what do you mean she WAS a great person. Somebody better talk to her. You know the suspect always gets involved with the search.

my first thought on all your comments about the house not being searched from the beginning is whose to say she was in the house from the beginning i think this is going to turn out to be a big thing and i have a feeling she was moved from the beginning otherwise tarboro police department is even more worthless than i already think it is. I dont know what happended to you aimee pitt and i dont think the true storys going to come out for a while but you will be missed and its sad that this happends to people so young.

The family of this young lady is in my prayers. But I also have to question as to "Why wasn't her home searched?" If someone is missing, isn't that the first place you would search??????

I was told by a friend, who runs her mouth about EVERYTHING that her boyfriend at Piggly Wiggly in Pinetops said he had heard from Aimee on the computer, think the guys name is Jason, or James, not sure. I don't know if its true but wanted to put it out there, so hopefully someone will read and investigate it! Praying for her safe return and for the small minded people in town who spread gossip to shut up!!!

I agree, PUBLICIZE it. Now is not the time to be concerned about privacy and gossip, now is the time to yell at the top of your lungs, my friend, child is missing. Help find her! There is no doubt she is loved and everyone is concerned for her safety and well being. PLEASE help find her! You never know where the tip may come from, the more people that know she is missing, the higher the odds she will be found. Praying she will be found soon.

I didn't know Aimee, but her mom was my nurse while I was in the hospital this past May and she was THE BEST nurse ever. My heart goes out to her and her family and I PRAY that she will be found safe! Bless her heart, nobody has the right to judge another, lest you be judged! And none of that is important. What's important is that she is MISSING!!
