NEW DETAILS: Police Investigate ATM Robbery

Greenville police are investigating an ATM robbery that occurred Saturday night.

Police say a victim was withdrawing money at State Employees Credit Union at 2296 Charles Blvd. when a suspect with a handgun approached him.

The victim then fled in his vehicle leaving the money behind.

Police are now looking for the suspect.

This ATM is also where a teen attempted to hold up a man making a withdrawl in 2009 but was fatally shot. 19-year-old Antonio Lacy of Greenville was killed when an off-duty sheriff's deputy, Sheriff Mac Manning said Deputy Zackary Odom was defending himself when he shot the teen.

"Back", law-abiding citizens do not need a permit to carry a legally-obtained and possessed firearm in plain view in a proper holster in NC. NC is an "open carry state". If you can legally possess a firearm, you can legally carry it without a permit--as long as it is in plain view, and not concealed...

Buy a gun, learn to use it, and get you permit to carry. Then use teller machines only at night with the intentions of being robbed so that we can get rid of the local thugs doing the robbing. Blow em away without hesitation because if they have a weapon, you think their gonna NOT use it to take yopur life? The time has come to say enough is enough. Shoot first and ask questions later.

Avoid the problem by not using the atm at night.Think smart & use your ATM card during day light hours.A little planning might save your life.

Too bad this victim didn't have his weapon with him like the Deputy did at this same ATM....I wouldn't think about going to an ATM after dark without my gun handy...and yes,I do have a conceal carry permit....I would also advise everyone who goes banking after dark to protect themselves...these thugs and gangs in Greenville only respect one thing and that is weapons...Don't be a victim, be a survivor.

SECU is one of the FEW banks in NC that allows Open Carry in their facilities. Anyone who is eligible should bank with SECU, because they are one of the ONLY banks in NC that actually support your Constitutional Rights, and the Fundamental Human Right of lawful self-defense... If this victim had taken personal responsibility for his own safety, this story might have had a VERY different ending...
