Police Double Reward In Unsolved Murder Case

More than a year after a man was gunned down Jacksonville police have increased the reward for his killer.

Ramel McDonald was shot to death on May 19th, 2010 on Onslow Drive. Now police say they'll match a $2,500 Crime Stoppers reward, bringing the total to $5,000 for information which leads to the arrest in the homicide case.

"I am confident that someone locally has information in regard to this murder. We ask that anyone with information to contact us. Information can be provided confidentially and anonymously through Crime Stoppers" said Detective David Militier.

Last June police released an artist sketch of the gunman. He's described as a black man in the early to mid-20's, short hair, 5'10" to 6' tall with a medium to slender build. The man was wearing a black fitted ball cap, white t-shirt and jeans. He was last seen with a semi-automatic handgun.

Police say they have interviewed dozens of witnesses in the case and have conducted numerous photographic lineups and have investigated hundreds of leads.

Anyone with information on McDonald's murder should call police at 910-938-6405 or Crime Stoppers of Jacksonville/Onslow County at 910-938-3273.
