Police Charge Man With Kidnapping Girlfriend

Greenville police have arrested and charged an 18 year old after they say he kidnapped his girlfriend.

Police say it happened early Saturday morning at University Suites. According to police a caller said that the suspect, Sherkeil Smith of Ayden, was beating on the door of his girlfriend's apartment there and demanding she come outside.

The caller then said Smith kicked in the front door, grabbed his girlfriend by the arm, and forced her into his vehicle.

Responding officers spotted the vehicle and executed a high-risk vehicle stop. Police say no injuries were reported.

Smith has been charged with burglary, kidnapping, and communicating threats. He is in jail under a $250 thousand dollar secure bond.
