Woman Leads Cops On Chase In Jacksonville; Ends In Crash, Arrest

Troopers say a woman led them on a chase through Jacksonville on Tuesday until she crashed into a taxi cab near the police station.

Alex Carr is still in jail, charged with felony elude arrest, going 15 m.p.h. over the speed limit and driving with a revoked license.

The Highway Patrol says they tried to pull over Carr's vehicle on Highway 17 for an expired license plate, but the woman would not stop. Jacksonville police assisted troopers with the pursuit which ended on Chaney Avenue, about a block from the police station.

Troopers say the 21-year-old woman's car struck a taxi cab at the intersection of Johnson Boulevard and Chaney Avenue. They say Carr ran, but only got about a hundred feet before being nabbed by officers.

Troopers believe the woman got scared and wouldn't stop because she was on probation. No one was injured in the crash.
