Plea Made In 2009 New Bern Nightclub Murder

A New Bern man will spend at least the next 26 years in prison for the 2009 murder of another man at a nightclub.

In a deal with prosecutors, Stanley Williams pleaded guilty Thursday morning to second degree murder, shooting a weapon into an occupied vehicle, possession of a firearm by a felon and a charge from Bertie County of conspiracy to commit assault with bodily injury.

Cameron Gatling of Cove City was gunned down at Club Insomnia on Highway 55 back on February 15th, 2009. Police said a fight broke out inside the club, and a large crowd moved into the parking lot when the shooting took place.

Williams was sentenced to serve between 225 and 275 months...and then serve a 42 to 60 month sentence on the Bertie County charge. Court officials that stems from when Williams was in prison and he and other inmates planned to go into another cell and beat up an inmate.

The word PLEA annoys the daylights outta me. That stuff has got to quit. Try him for the murder. Jury of peers... If he is found guilty then he goes to "death row". The bloomin DA's and pansy pants in black robes need to grow a pair. This state needs to grow a set too. Take a broom to the death row and sweep once every quarter. What's in this fine young mans history that they do not want exposed to daylight? I am willing to bet this ain't his first go around at the rodeo. Rant over.
