J.H. Rose High School athlete Grey Wordsworth is hanging up the shoulder pads to focus on a Division One baseball career at Appalachian State.
Wordsworth led the Rampant football team in tackles in 2010 from his linebacker position and was selected as an all-conference footballplayer following his junior season.
But Wordsworth is headed to Appalachian State on a baseball scholarship.
The senior pitcher went 4-2 with 1.62 ERA, 49 strikeouts and 13 walks in 33 innings as a junior at 4-A power J.H. Rose coached by Ronald Vincent. He represented Region 1 at the 2010 N.C. State Games.
Wordsworth also excels in the classroom with a 4.0 grade point average and is a National Honor Society member.
