Pitt County Fire Official Found Not Guilty

A fire official in two Pitt County towns has been found not guilty of misdemeanor sexual battery.

The Pitt County Clerk of Court's Office says Tony Smart was found not guilty in court Monday.

Smith was accused of grabbing a woman's rear end while conducting a fire safety inspection at the Cubbies in Winterville in October.

Following the accusation, Smart was suspended from his duties as a battalion chief with Greenville Fire-Rescue and as Winterville's assistant fire chief.

Thanks goodness this mess is over. Tony, no one who knows you ever thought there was any substance to this. Maybe you should sue the girl for trying to ruin your character, but we all know you are too good to do that. Here's to a fine man!

For what she has put him though, He should sue her. This would not make him a bad person. At least get any expenses out of her. I am sure he has spent a lot of money to clear his name. Make her pay for it!

Looks like someone wanted their 15 minutes of fame! I am glad Chief Smart was found not guilty. He is a very nice guy. ( Even if he does have a rep as a ladies man)
