Pitt County Deputies Looking For Suspects In Violent Assault, Robbery

A man is recovering at the hospital after being beaten, stabbed, and dumped on the side of a road in Pitt County early Sunday morning.

It all began at the Kangaroo Express convenience store early Sunday morning in Ayden. 46-year old Kevin Sinclair says two men agreed to take him to Greenville, but they brought him to VOA Site C Road in Pitt County instead. Sinclair says the men beat and stabbed him and then robbed his cell phone and wallet. After the attack Sinclair made his way to the Highway 264 overpass before blacking out.

"I believe around 7:30 in the morning some EMS workers from Bell Arthur were coming through and found him on the side of the road," said Pitt County Sheriff's Captain Paula Dance.

The Pitt County Sheriff's Office says it is following some leads on the case. We spoke to Sinclair by phone from his hospital room at Vidant Medical Center who says he's feeling better.

You just can't do that. All strangers are not good Samaritans. He really should have used better judgement than asking strangers for a 'ride'. Hope the cell phone gets tracked and they get caught, cuz they'll do it again and the next poor fella may not live to tell about it.
