An EMS volunteer in Martin County says he will use the $250,000 he won in the state lottery to make repairs on his home and buy a new truck.
Kevin Riggs, who lives in Pitt County and works as an appliance repairman, bought the lucky ticket at a Food Lion in Durham.
"As soon as I scratched it, I started looking around for a pen to sign the back of the ticket," Riggs said. "I've always felt like a big win was coming my way, but it was still unbelievable. This feels wonderful."
After taxes were taken out, Riggs walked away with a check for $173,001.
