Perdue Keeps State Crime Head To Lead Combined Agency

The head of North Carolina's public safety agency is getting more responsibilities for the same salary.

Gov. Bev Perdue announced Thursday that Reuben Young will be secretary of the newly restructured Department of Public Safety. He's been the head of the Department of Crime Control and Public Safety since Perdue took office in 2009.

The new agency is a consolidation of the previously separate departments of crime control, correction, and juvenile justice. Perdue proposed the plan in December.

The move brings state troopers, probation officers and juvenile justice counselors under one roof. Legislative budget-writers say the consolidation will eliminate 34 executive-level positions.

Young provided legal advice to former Gov. Mike Easley throughout his eight years as chief executive. He also worked under Easley when he was attorney general.

George Washington said it best, the formation of parties would destroy our great nation. It's funny, he saw the problems long before they existed. He tried to warn our great citizens of the problems but no one listened. Now look at what we got...A bunch of whiny tea partiers, confused and ashamed democrats and republicans searching for anything to make them look intelligent. The best solution is to remove them all and replace them with citizens who care about the welfare of this country.

Just another prime example of her excellency's leadership. Suppose they will find some other over-paid post for Keller & Lancaster; they need to eliminate all the region offices in DOP, that would save an ocean of money. Cronies hiring cronies, same mess different administration... The governor's version of transparency is almost as bad as the crowd with watergate in the 70's. I made the mistake of voting for her would have been better off if I stumped my toe and fell down walking in the poll.
