NEW INFO: Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit By Vehicle In Emerald Isle

A man is dead after being struck by a vehicle in Emerald Isle Friday about 10 p.m.

Police report that 63-year-old Jimmy Cooper, a resident of Emerald Isle, was crossing the highway at the intersection of Emerald Drive and Bogue Inlet Drive.

Cooper was taken to the hospital where he died as the result of injuries from the accident, according to police.

Police have not released any information about the vehicle or the driver, only reporting the department is still investigating.

Police have requested a medical helicopter after a person was struck by a car after 10:00 p.m. Friday in Emerald Isle.

The Emerald Isle Police department tells us someone was injured when they were hit by a vehicle in front of Bert's Surf Shop on Emerald Drive near Bogue Inlet intersection.

At this time there's no word on the injuries to the person. We'll update the story as we get more information.
