A Peace Officers Memorial Day ceremony was held on the campus of Carteret Community College in Morehead City Wednesday night honoring those in law enforcement who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Six fallen officers from the past year from various agencies across the state were remembered, as well as those who lost their lives in the past, like Jeremy Reynolds.
The former Morehead City police officer died back in 2006 when he was working in Tennessee. We spoke with his father Victor Reynolds who said, "Police officers are brothers. They do look after each other. In life, and death."
Peace Officers Memorial Day is a national observance that dates back to 1961.
The event in Morehead City has been going on for six years.
