P.S. Jones In Beaufort County Takes Part In "Let's Move Campaign"

Students in one county took part in a nationwide effort Tuesday spearheaded by First Lady Michelle Obama and Beyonce.

Eighth graders at P.S. Jones Middle School in Beaufort County started dancing at 1:42 Tuesday afternoon at the same time as other kids across the country.

It was called a flash workout and was choreographed by Beyonce to support Michelle Obama's "Let's Move Campaign" to help fight childhood obesity. It's an ongoing effort to teach kids healthy eating habits and lifestyles.

The event was coordinated by the National Broadcaster's Association.

In my opinioun, it shouldnt matter what the coach did, because its part of the 'Lets Get Fit' movement. As long as the kids were having fun and being healthy every thing is fine. They are trying to find new ways to be healthy in school that is "cool" to the students. I think this is a good idea!

Actually money was spent. Our Coach bought and paid for dvd's with his own money so he could make us videos so we could practice during Spring break. Thanks Coach.....

Tax payers money? This was a video that Michelle Obama and Beyonce made together. It was a video that you could pull off the internet if you did a search. It is a shame with the struggles our young kids have with growing up that a (maybe) adult would be so negative. A vast majority of kids today only play with computers and texting on cell phones. Does citizen not remember doing square dance and line dancing in school growing up?

Anonymous and Citizen are right. No need for sick moving video's to taunt the kids minds. They can have a program such as cleaning the street or helping out the communites to get excersise. That I believe is called Jail and prison time.

All the students in PE did not participate they just stood there and did nothing they were not doing the dance. If we want them to lose weight and fight child hood obesity shouldnt the kids in the back be dancing to??

To anonymous..This video had nothing to do with communism (which you spelled wrong). It was about getting kids active and moving in an effort to fight childhood obesity. The star participated in the video free of charge as part of "give back to the community." The only thing that's stupid is your comments.

Citizen is right. No need for sick moving video's to taunt the kids minds. They can have a program such as cleaning the street or helping out the communites to get excersise. When I was a young girl we even played with jump ropes, basket balls, footballs, even nerf balls and we stayed pretty slim. Now days the PE in my kids school does nothing to even make them sweat a little bit. So Citizen is right, we did have to pay for those stuipd videos just so some star could pair with the pres and get Commuism in schols started. So get over it.

Citizen, If you do not encourage students and everyone in the community to have and keep a healthy lifestyle then those tax dollars you are referring to will be used to fund their medical bills. Also you may want to do some research on childhood obesity and understand that this program is meant to prevent some of the problems that these children are facing and most likely will face for the rest of their lives!

Rather than dancing to some poor role model's workout video, they should be spending time doing something a bit more useful. You act as if the video was free. You do know that we as taxpayers have paid for such nonsense right? Yes, it is a negative comment, because wasting money like this is downright stupid.
