Police say a robber didn't get far after they say he held up a Duplin County bank Thursday morning.
Wallace police says four minutes after the robbery call at First Bank, they had Todd Griffin in custody.
The 44-year-old man from Person County is charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and two counts of second degree kidnapping.
Police say the robber came into the bank on North Norwood Street around 10:15 a.m. and handed a note to the teller saying he had a gun. After getting an undisclosed amount of money, the robber ran, but police say he left the money in the bank's parking lot after the dye pack went off.
Lawmen say they got information on the robber's direction and after a brief chase they stopped his vehicle just inside Pender County.
Police say Griffin admitted to robbing the bank and is now in jail on a $500,000 bond.
